Many Oracle users obtained licenses in the month of May in previous years. This, since May is the last month of Oracle’s Fiscal Year. Because of this, your support maintenance renewal proposal(s) are coming in shortly. This, since Oracle sends these proposals typically 3 months in advance. What should you do? One of our NAMER based customers had an Unlimited License Agreement which we helped to certify last year. The fixed annual support maintenance cost for this ULA was 2.875K USD. On top of this premier support contract, the customer needed to have an Extended Support contract. 

  • Oracle quoted initially for its premier support maintenance: 2.990 K USD 
  • Oracle quoted initially for its extended support maintenance: 477 K USD 

After the delivery of our services, the customer entered into a premier support contract for 2.875K USD (no indexation) and an Extended Support contract for 40K USD. Total cost savings achieved: 547 K USD. Both contracts where entered into for 12 months (and the customer was not forced to enter into a contract for 36 or 24 months as nowadays typically proposed by Oracle support to “waive” the indexation).
